Nasolabial chages before and after primary operation in the patients with cleft lip


Abstract
In order to evaluate the changes before and after primary operations in the patients with cleft lip objectively using full face photographs, the author analyzed results of improvement of nasal width and mouth width and asymmetry of nostril.
1. The ratio of asymmetry of the nostril is changed from average 1.43 preoperatively to average 1.09 postopatively : 79.1% is improved postoperatively.
2. The ratio of nasal width compaired with intermedial canthal distance is changed from average 1.03 preoperatively to avergage 0.86 postoperatively : 16.5% is reduced posteroperatively.
3. The ratio of mouth width compaired with intermedial canthal distance is changed from average 1.04 preoperatively to average 0.94 postoperatively : 9.6% is reduced postoperatively
